Just posting this to help make newer poshers/ people aware; happens on all sorts of name brands, but I’ve been seeing generic items being posted for 2 or 3 times the price they cost NEW on the Dr. Martens official website. People will try to overcharge you by trying to convince you an item is “rare” or “vintage” so do you research first! Protect your wallets y’all!

kittykatzhaus It’s not a “scam” , it is absolutely supply and demand. “Scam” implies you won’t get what you are deciding to buy. Any business that does a limited run of anything from DM to Lego to Disney Dresses, this is what happens. Thanks for the info, but again, nothing about selling an item for more than MSR is a scam, this is what capitalism is.

punk_carousel if someone has a pair of mint condition original made in England docs, that does unfortunately warrant a higher price tag. rare items in perfect, 'new from the box' condition are sought after by collectors, and so they have a higher price tag. it's not much different than a coin collector paying more for a mint condition coin.
