Staffordshire pottery c. 1820-1837 with introduction sequence number 47. This very well modelled group, depicts a man playing a flute for a seated lady, whilst she holds the music book. The figures are dressed in 18th Century costume and set upon a grassy mound base.

Decorated in underglaze enamels, and covered in a pearlware glaze.

Depth – 3.5”
Condition – Repair to missing mossy bocage behind Man. Wear consistent with age with some typical chips. Otherwise faced, hands and most important attributes in very good condition.

This early songsters figure group would date from 1815-1825, and it was most probably made by Enoch Wood, based on the style of the base. The number beneath is a workman's number---they were paid by the piece, so I guess this helped keep track. Authenticator: Myrna Schkolne
