Etruscan Majolica Dog Plate Antique Griffin Smith Hill GSH 9.125 Inch USA

GSH Griffin Hill Smith antique plate. Etruscan majolica. circa 1879-1880 Embossed backstamp. 9 1/8 inch diameter. Made in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania USA Excellent pre-owned condition, considering age. Has natural micro crazing, need to be at point blank range to see. There are a couple of anomalies arising from the manufacturing process. One, a light spot in front of the dog's chest, due to a thinner layer of paint(photo 5). Secondly, there is a small area of discoloration to the right of the dog's front leg(see photo 6). Looks like sticker residue but is natural and under the glaze. The very bright white blob in this photo is caused by me angling the plate to show the area of concern, as it cannot be seen by looking at the plate head-on. There are a couple of minuscule surface scratches as well.
