VINTAGE Bear Earrings, Black, Gold, Dangle, Hematite (?)

This is a pair of vintage black bear earrings, which I bought in the 90s. They have been stored for many years unused. I thought they were gold or gold-plated but I do not find a mark on them. I believe the bears are carved out of hematite but also have not had that verified.
