Here's a gift for the antique book collector! This copy of Jean Webster's "Daddy-Longlegs" was published in 1912 and features a lovely rose-vine decoration on the front cover. The story follows young Jerusha, an orphan girl who is suddenly sponsored by an eccentric and mysterious benefactor, allowing her to attend college. Jerusha (or Judy, as she calls herself) details her adventures in a series of letters to her benefactor, whom she nicknames Daddy-Longlegs. The book had some understandable signs of wear--fraying along the edges of the hardcover binding, discoloration of the paper with age, and a large tear on one of the pages in the back (see photo). There is also some writing on the inside cover. On the positive side, the book had all its pages, which apparently to be firmly attached.
