Geometric Abalone Pendant & Dark Blue Mother of Pearl Bronze Link Long Necklace
Pāua is the Māori name given to three New Zealand species of large edible sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs which belong to the family Haliotidae. It is known in the United States and Australia as abalone, and in the United Kingdom as ormer shells.
Mother of pearl is a strong, iridescent material produced by some molluscs to protect the inner layer of its shell. It is also known as nacre, and is the material from which pearls are grown. Nacre is used to make jewelry, decorative items, and clothing accessories. It is also used to adorn musical instruments and create mosaic tiles.
