True Vintage, Art Deco Bronze / Gilt Brass tone Sculpture / Bookend. By Ronson Art Metal Works, 1930s. Exquisitely detailed dog with lifelike pose and expression set on a classic Art Deco stepped design base. This model is generally believed to be a Borzoi / Russian Wolfhound, but appealing to any dog lover - particularly of sighthounds, including Greyhounds, Whippets, Galgos. I’ve seen variations of this cast sculpture / bookend in different metal finishes and bases: I find this one the most elegant with the art deco stepped base in rich bronze with reddish highlights and dog gleaming in gilt brass finish. Felt-lined bottom with original 1930s label! Ideal as Bookend, Paperweight or Sculptural Decor Object atop an art book or displayed on a shelf. SIZE: The base measures just under 4.5” by 3.5”. It is 3.75” H. The dog measures about 5.25” nose to tail and 2.75” H. Condition is excellent! With only the signs of age and “honest” wear one would expect and want to see in a vintage patina, such as tiny scratches and/or very minor wear to the finish.
