@fashionradical my grandfather passed away 2 years ago was giving to me by my grandma she said he collected and traveled was a big collector this history..she doesn't know much but she knows he paid good money for it,,had alot more then this one so I believe I only grabbed 1. I read a little online that mentioned what era and what was used for in 19 th Century .. he collected art..

@fashionradical He traveled somewhere in Mexico every year for over 30 years do to him being in love with and the history too...Google her name hard to find but tells u why they used chomping one she was the protector to their homes. keep sickness away..Will deff. ask grandma anymore info..I know she didn't care as much as he did..

@fashionradical what ever info I was giving from her was what I had posted and he was a huge and addicted loved history..I don't believe she has any authentication she's very old even if she did i will not be surprised she didn't throw away ...she's sold most of his collections i know that.

@violet12345 If you find out who the santero that made this piece, you’ll be able to find out more on the dates and region. The santero usually signs or carves their name in the wood (original retablos are carved from wood taken directly from the tree and usually have an arch vs modern ones are on pre cut wood).

@nmmtngrl unfortunately I don't know any other info the person had passed away this piece is all metal i see no signature last i looked..but will check tomorrow maybe I missed anything..thank u for your information 🫠
