Antique Bottle Silver Overlay Vintage Flask Ornate Perfume Bottle Vanity Display

A very special piece. Beautiful vintage or antique bottle with ornate design: ideal for use as a Flask or Vanity Bottle or for Display. This handblown amber glass bottle is encased in an elaborate silver metal overlay, which includes flowers, twisted and coiled wire flourishes, and pierced Greek key framing. I’ve seen a few smaller versions of this rare bottle before (never in this larger size!), which have been dated from antique to vintage, attributed variously to Greece, France, Portugal and / or Morocco / the Middle East with the overlay deemed silver plate, silvered copper wire or nickel silver and the purpose from rose water, whiskey (or other liquor), to perfume. My best guess is that it was designed as a fancy decorative liquor flask (based on the slightly bowed shape of bottle), made in Europe in the early to mid-20th C. SIZE: Measures 7.5” tall x 4” wide x 2” deep. CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition with only wear consistent with age and use. Part of the original cork stopper has broken off.
