This unique Gorgeous brooch (read bellow only after 1920 Norway changed from 830 to 925 like today silver) I think early 20th Century So so amazing The detail is fabulous 830S Sterling Silver Viking Boat / Ship Sail in a shape of a Snake / Serpent & Dragon head with the water waves bellow (look at the detail) Ocean As Is = Pictures actual brooch Size about 1.5" a C clasp back (LOOK AT THE CURVING OF THE CLOSURE MAYBE FOR IT NOT TO STICK OUT LIKE THE VINTAGE BROOCHES?) heavy ABOUT: *The brooch is made of 830S silver, and it measures about 1.5" (mostly round). Silver of 830S quality was once the official standard for Norwegian silver. In 1920, the Norwegian standard changed to 925. * I think this is a very nice example of Henrik Moller's Dragestil silver jewelry (not sure but all my research brings me to this). "Dragestil" refers to a style that was a revival of the Viking era and early Medieval motifs. Henrik Moller was a well-known Norwegian silversmith who lived in Trondheim from 1858-1937. The brooch is an intricate design of a Viking ship with the typical dragon's head and stern and a large square-rigged sail.
