ABOUT:
*The brooch is made of 830S silver, and it measures about 1.5" (mostly round). Silver of 830S quality was once the official standard for Norwegian silver. In 1920, the Norwegian standard changed to 925.
* I think this is a very nice example of Henrik Moller's Dragestil silver jewelry (not sure but all my research brings me to this). "Dragestil" refers to a style that was a revival of the Viking era and early Medieval motifs. Henrik Moller was a well-known Norwegian silversmith who lived in Trondheim from 1858-1937. The brooch is an intricate design of a Viking ship with the typical dragon's head and stern and a large square-rigged sail. Below the ship is the ocean with waves and even a sea serpent in the water all combined together to create this gorgeous brooch.
