@judiah01 Hi, is this natural tanzanite and what is the carat weight?
judiah01
@misdemina hi I believe this one is lab created bc I have other tanzanite pieces that are natural and the color of this pendant is more saturated purple than I've seen. Don't remember the carat weight but it's a good noticeable size when worn

@judiah01 hi! I've been collecting tanzanite since the early 2000s and thought I would let you know, at this point they aren't able to lab grow tanzanite. it could be lab corundum (scientific name for sapphire) since they can come out to have that high grade tanzanite shade. if that is a real tanzanite it would be a AAA grade. those are hard to find now which is why the tanz market has sky rocketed. the mines shut down in 2019

so basically the tanzanite in existence now is all there will ever be. the Tanzanian government did say tanzanite one (company) could go back in if they paid the workers what was owed, but since the mines were already depleted of everything worth anything, they haven't bothered.

the more vivid and intense the shade in a tanzanite, the more valuable it is. its definitely possible for this to be real and still be a totally different color from your other pieces. a light lavender tanzanite would be A grade, where color like this would be AAA to heirloom. if I were you I'd stop by a jewelery store and have them check it with a gemstone tester. you'd hate to sell a stone worth thousands for super cheap.

pawn shop jewelers always have diamond and gem testers and will always check the piece for free. those machines are accurate and super quick to get a reading on. they just touch it to the stone and the arrow points to which gem it is on the list. it resembles a multimeter
