I always use natural light to take my photos, but sometimes it's not bright enough, and I'm limited to daylight hours and sunny days. Ha! Do you have any advise on how I can brighten up my photos? If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to know some of your tricks. Thanks :) Thinking about purchasing some umbrella lights...

sydneyodelia @amburkhardt 1- Hey Ashley! Thank you so much for the compliment, it means a lot! Well, to be honest I do use a camera with high exposure and brightness. However, I do sometimes use my iPhone, and it practically does the same thing. After I take my photos I use an app called afterlight (or you can you any photo editor app) for even more brightness.

sydneyodelia 2- Natural lighting is also key for a great picture, but with your situation I do think umbrella lights might be a good alternative. (I have never used them so I am not 100% sure) Personally I think your photos are adorable right now, but I hope you figure out what works best for you!

threadmetrics @sydneypeatrow Great advice! I do have a better camera I could use, but the ease of using my iPhone is great! Also, I need to learn how to use my nice camera a bit better so I don't shy away from using it. I do sometimes adjust my light in photo edit apps, but it can be tricky to balance out. I will have to check out afterlight. It may be better than what I'm using now.

sydneyodelia @amburkhardt Personally I think using my camera is a lot better than using my iPhone. It just is a hassle of getting all of the photos onto my computer. I would recommend just trying out the settings on there, and maybe that will help! Also balancing out lighting on apps can be difficult. Darkish pictures are better than super bright/washed out pictures in my opinion. I also agree that finding time in the winter will be a struggle to take pictures, etc. Good luck, and no problem!!

threadmetrics @jsm91562 Hi Julia ~ Those are all great questions! Honestly, I think it's a combination of photography, quality items/price, and followers. Most important to me is the photography. You could take an awesome piece and list with a crummy pic and people will scroll right past. Show stopping photos are a must! A clean, clutter free background provides the best backdrop. I always use natural light, or photography lights (if shooting at night). From there you can edit using apps on your phone.

threadmetrics @jsm91562 Thanks! It takes time to master the photography. Even though I've gotten better, I'm always looking to improve. Flat lays are my favorite. Grab yourself a large sheet of poster board and be careful not to crease or wrinkle it. Set up by a window and grab a few clean/streamline props. Remember, sometimes less is best. One more thing, I CANNOT live without my steamer. It's perfect for getting wrinkles out of clothes for pics.

threadmetrics @lizandfound Sure! Always take photos near a window where the light is brightest. If you're taking photos in the evening or at night, I would suggest investing in some umbrella lights. Lastly, the Lightroom app is great for editing. You can adjust exposure to make your photos even brighter! Honestly, your photos look good! Lighting can be tricky.
