AMAZING 1940s' BLACK VELOUR WIDE BRIM HAT - PAINTED WHITE TIPPED FEATHERS/JEWEL

This is a truly stunning wide brim vintage hat, proof of the creativity of the era's milliners! The hat is made of a beautiful velvet at the top, and the brim is felt underneath, showing some creatively topstitched lines. The wide brim is asymmetrical, and folded upwards at the back.The crown is rounded and partially folded. There is a bow at one of the sides made of the same velvety material. The brim is adorned with stunning hand painted feathers. The tips of the feathers are painted white, and there is also a rhinestone jewel to finish this wonderful creation. Label: Designed by PATRICE, and a size 22 label. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
