Beautiful antique condition. The only “flaw” I see is that the strap is a bit twisted and doesn’t quite lay flat. The lock mechanism works great, everything is in good shape. It is hard to see in the pictures but there is a small jewel in the lock, very pretty and delicate in person. Silver color/tone. I don’t believe it is real sterling silver but I don’t have a jewelry tester, I’m only going off of the purse’s marking. There are no “925” nor “sterling” marks anywhere that I could find.

franciamabell @timsouza hi. Good question I should have been more descriptive. I’m not seeing that it says “925” anywhere so I’m going to say so no.

rebekahwants @franciamabell well I see it says duramesh, and I think maybe that was made with German silver. Which has nickel and other metals added to the silver.. I’m a collector I should really know this.. lol.. think I’m due for more studies.. it’s beautiful thanks for you quick response! ❤️❤️❤️

franciamabell @timsouza thanks very informative. I don’t think it says duramesh, I think it says “soldered mesh” and the other marking says whiting & Davis. Time for clearer pictures :)

rebekahwants @franciamabell oh that’s right soldiered mesh! I forgot that’s what I read.. lol, I was just looking in my book about duramesh.. lol.. I think soldiered mesh is not silver, now I really must do some research.. just love the old Whiting and Davis pieces, do you mind telling me where you got it? I love history of pieces!
