Christopher Columbus on Lake Michigan, made by Sevres of France, circa 1900s to 1910s. The porcelain plate has gold edged trim at center has a steamship with text that reads S.S. Christopher Columbus, Chicago-Milwaukee Route. **More information: (Found on eBay) This is the whaleback steamship designed by Alexander McDougall and built at Superior, Wisconsin, in 1892 and 1893. After service ferrying visitors to the Columbian Exposition in Chicago, the vessel went into private service.
