ART NOUVEAU JUGENDSTYL German Ashtray Copper Brass Floral Antique As-is Estate Vintage. Antique copper ash tray made by WMF (Würtemburgische Machin Fabrik AG) founded in 1853 Geislingen an der Steige, Germany. In 1880 there was an amalgamation of Straub & Sohn & A Ritter & Co & the factory became famous for domestic & art metalware with a change of name to Würtemburgische Metallwaren Fabrik AG. There have been a variety of marks used during their 150 years of production. The back shows the early hallmark of an ostrich within a diamond which originates from the German word for ostrich, Der Strauss, after one of the founders, Daniel Straub. The ashtray is in good antique condition with a few dents, discoloration & scratches. The back shows some areas of oxidation or patina. I have left any polishing to the buyer's discretion.The ashtray is about a 5 in long x about 5 in wide x about 1/2 in deep & weighs 7.3 oz. Smoke free shop.
