AWE-INSPIRING 1940s' BLACK FELT "COSSACK" STYLE HAT + MOUTON FUR + ORIGINAL BOX

This is a treasured piece of history dating back to the 940s'! This black felt hat is in a "cossack" style. The crown is round and the fully upturned brim surrounds it.The brim is edged in beautiful black curly mouton fur. There is an elastic band attached inside the hat. In this listing, the original box from Lane Bryant in Indianapolis is included, though it shows wear and tear due to its age. It was shipped to a Mrs. L. Atkins in Tipton, Iowa, per the label.There is also the original tag, as shown. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling, furs & artificial flowers were popular. There is no label attached, but the hat was shipped to the original owner in a box with its label. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
