This new Posher is looking forward to getting involved as a seller as well as a buyer. Watch for my closet to grow quickly after the holidays; I have finally had to accept I will never fit back into the sizes 6-12 I was wearing just 6 short years ago, and even if I did, this 57 year old grandmother won't ever be able to pull off the much younger look of closets full of beautiful & rarely, if ever, worn clothes that are taking up all my closet space-space I need for things that actually fit now.

joanwyoung I'm also in the process of recovering from a cervical disk fusion I had the day before Thanksgiving. I'm a chronic pain patient (from many causes) who struggles every single day to find a reason to fight the pain and get out of bed - despite the 5 beautiful granddaughters you see in this page's photo. In fact, feeling well enough to travel to see them is what keeps me trying to find ways to live with, or better yet, fix the pain. We're expecting our 6th grandbaby in June; it's too soon to know if it's a girl or boy, although Daddy has said he accepts what the odds tell him. :) Please watch for my closet to grow; maybe you'll find a thing or two you can't live without. ;) BTW, advice from veteran Poshers is always welcome!

joanwyoung @brookesgranny You have such a beautiful family! We have a Brooke, too, but she's my daughter-in-law, mom to Emery (the beautiful blonde on far left) and Corinne (on Santa's lap). I'm so excited about our boy coming (brother to Ava - right, who's trying to hold on to her sister, Lilly). It's going to be hilarious watching him with our girls! My last granddaughter is Elliana, second from left, my daughter's girl. So much like her mom was!

Had double fusion in '98, surgery in '03 to buy me some time before they did the 3rd fusion, and this surgery was finally that 3rd fusion. I've also started with a new pain clinic trying to get some answers & help with my lower back. It's a never-ending cycle. Have to fix these things so I can enjoy my grandbabies! Lol!

joanwyoung @lisalove82 Oh, honey, I'm so sorry! It's bad enough that ladies my age hurt this bad; it's got to be super difficult in your 20s and 30s to be dealing with these issues. It's easy, when you have these pain issues and you're struggling to have a life despite it all, to forget that there's always someone in worse shape. Funny, I thought at 41 I had life somewhat figured out & finally felt at peace then God throws me a curve ball to remind me I DON'T hv it figured out at all. More lessons to learn, I guess. joanwyoung @phoebescloset11 I have to admit I'm also one of those slow learners. It's taken 5 or 6 years of giving in to the pain, hibernating under the covers or in the rest of the house, moaning and groaning about the pain and seeing the rest of my life as always the same. I knew that aging meant pain and decline; did I expect it in my 50s?!?! No way! Then I had grandbabies! I realized that if I was going to be part of their lives, I had to get a handle on my life. Am I still in pain? Absolutely! In fact, more so because of increasing my activity level, but I travel now to see my babies (we are in 4 different southern states), mostly by myself because hubby works, I enjoy my babies and when I get home, I allow myself to collapse and rebuild. It's difficult, but the alternative is unacceptable. Sorry - getting off my soapbox now. ;)

The older is the tomboy, the younger is the girly little princess - and serious drama queen! Your family is beautiful, handsome young boys and such a little princess. She looks like a little angel! No wonder she's a tomboy, though, with two older brothers! Lol! As to my health, I'm very familiar with MRIs and the wonderful people that work so hard to make it as comfortable as possible. I'm with a new pain clinic now so maybe there'll be some better results, but I'm still struggling for now. Take care of that beautiful family!

hoot1000 @joanwyoung my son is in chronic pain as well and he is on disability. He stays home with my grandson whom I visited today. Even with his pain he was putting together a swing set today for marks 3rd birthday. He is so sweet. Hope you feel better. I just joined posh about 3 weeks ago. I'm a recovering shopaholic so it feels good to purge all this "stuff".

joanwyoung @hoot1000 I'm so sorry to hear your son is a chronic pain sufferer. At least mine waited until my own kids were grown before it hit. I hate that I'm not able to play with my grandchildren as much as I'd like, but thankfully I'm not trying to raise them. Did your son have an accident that caused his pain? He's doing the right thing, though. You have to try to do as much as you can do instead of giving up. I learned that lesson the hard way. I'd always been active and strong and when the pain issues hit, I gave up and gave in, lying around all the time and shopping online. So I'm a struggling compulsive shopper which is why I'm on here, too, trying to sell the excess I accumulated. It's not easy, is it? :) I'm not quite as new as you, but I'm still learning, too. hoot1000 @joanwyoung thank you so much. My son has a disease of the spine his hips are that of an old man. It took many doctors to diagnose him but finally doctors at parkland hospital in Dallas figured it out he takes embrel injections and a ton of other meds. It's amazing he functions as well as he does. He sure loves his little boy. He will be three April 2nd. I live being a grandma ! Well I'd better get sone sleep for a change. Life throws us some curve balls we just don't understand and it's easy to get tired and not want to function. I have found that this year after fighting cancer since I was pregnant w/ my now 16 yr old that I question why me? And why now? And please give me the energy back I once had! But life is just as beautiful now my Joan because we are HERE we are ALIVE and we have years ahead of us to make a mark on this life even if its in just a little way. You are a fighter and you have strength in you that you have to dig deep to find... Just remember-I will not fall down today, I shall stand and be as strong as I can and god will give me more strength and I promise you it will get better and you will be better, take time to rest and heal and I promise as your new friend to check on you and help any way I can. mcjayne @joanwyoung I will be glad to keep you going and put a smile on your face any day you need it my sweet friend, I feel blessed to have met you and so many amazing ladies who are all faced with challenges. Yesterday I was feeling so so down.. I got an overdose of chemo which resulted in a mild heart attack on Sunday ( I thought it was horrible heartburn like I'd never felt) and I felt just AWFUL!!! Miserable ill and had just had enough! But get the phone call I got today-my dr has found (through my misery this week) that he can treat other patients w/my type of cancer and in his words "Jayne your feeling so awful and sick the last ten days will lift the death warrant of the shoulders of fifty plus people in the next month. My struggle will know teach oncologists that a slow overdose of the drug try experiment me on can put people in remission including myself!!!!! How can I stay sad and blue when I have helped others?? I feel blessed Joan beyond belief that my suffering may have helped others and what a gift that is!!!!

marsala Welcome to Posh! I just LOVE the picture of your grand kids! They are beautiful! Hope your pain management improves soon. I had a kidney transplant 2 1/2 yeRs ago and know haw hard it is to have a condition. The time I spent on dialysis was tough. I lost 30 pounds! Down to a size 8. Now thank God I am doing well, and back to a 12. Don't give up! You have so much to be happy about! Those kids are beautiful ! Enjoy them! ❤️❤️❤️
