Acoma is a Keresan-speaking Pueblo that has been occupied from at least A.D 1200, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in the United States. Called the Sky City, it is built atop a beautiful mesa about 60 miles west of Albuquerque. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the breathtaking Pueblo offers a window into traditional life and is a top tourist destination in New Mexico. Acoma is especially known for its centuries-old tradition of making fine-walled polychrome pottery featuring colorful geometric patterns.
