Interesting painted copper sailboat framed plaque has a raised signature of the artist craftsman A. Gilles in the left lower quadrant.
Albert Marschner Gilles (1895-1979) was born in Paris and settled in Quebec in the 1930s.
He was known for his metal craftsmanship.
The vintage preowned framed + painted plaque are one solid copper piece.
The painted details are encased in a raised coppery outline in a coloring book fashion.
The raised outline and paint texture on a textured hammered background can be felt with your fingertip
The back side has two attached wires with a ring anchored to the copper frame.
The backside has a suspected darkened coating as shown
Seems to be in nice display condition for its 50 year vintage age.
This vintage preowned metal framed artwork is sold as is, as shown.
Wiped with Dawn power wash.
Coppery color seems to be sealed and did not need any attention or restoration.
The colorful paint condition is as shown, displays nicely. With up-close magnifying may show more details such as seen typical with hand painted art along with possible aging and wear.
Approximate Measurements: 6.25" x 7.75" to include angled beveled frame edging.
