What a beautiful example of an AMP (American Brilliant Period) relish tray crafted in the Early 1920's by American Glassmakers. This relish tray has the distinguished Hobstar and fan cut pattern that distinguishes it as from other crystal.
This elegant vintage relish, measuring 11 inches in length, is a stunning blend of classic design and intricate craftsmanship. The tray features a detailed cut glass pattern, with geometric and floral motifs that catch and reflect light beautifully, adding a touch of timeless treasure to your collection. This piece is almost flawless and is in good vintage condition. There are a few small chips on the border of the piece. Please see last picture for details. The chips do not deter from the beauty of this piece. This piece is perfect for small snacks, relish items candies, or even as a decorative centerpiece.
Cut leaded crystal (or cut glass) has three distinguishing characteristics: a bell-like ring when gently tapped with the finger, a clarity and brilliance unmatched by pressed or molded imitations, and weight noticeably greater than the same sized piece made of unleaded glass. Clearly defined, American Brilliant Period cut glass is fine quality, hand-cut crystal produced from 1876 to roughly 1920. It is considered “crystal” because it comprised up to a 50% lead content (versus 24% for modern crystal), which accounted for its brilliance.
