James Eartle Fraser first painted this iconic Native American as a composite of Chief Iron Tail of the Oglala Lakota, Chief Two Moons of the Cheyenne, and Chief John Big Tree of the Kiowa to put on the opposite side of the bison on a truly American coin. His creation was over 80 years agp. It is rare to still find one of these coins in circulation, but not so when I was young! Painted on 12 x16 inch canvas panel in acrylic by KAPUStudio, Montana.
