This was a birthday gift so I don't have a lot of information on it. The sparkly amethyst is @ 1.5 carats and the smaller surrounding diamonds add up to about .25 carats. The diamonds surround the amethyst and there are 3 rows of diamonds that go halfway around. There is an issue with the back part of the band. I accidentally started cleaning it with silver cleaner but caught it. The front color wasn't affected but the rear color dulled into almost a rose color. Or maybe it was rose to begin with. I never wore it but it is 14 kt and the back band is structurally sound and not noticeable. It's my birthstone but I'm not a purple fan and prefer green amethyst. Will come in a box.

hkleina is there no 14k stamp? that shouldn't have happened to it if it is 14k..ps there is no such thing as green amythest that is a misnomer. Prasiolite is the gem species for green quartz. Amythest is purple quartz and only purple is called amythest

drcarebug @hkleina You can see the 14K stamp on the inside of the band in the third picture. It must have been something bad about this particular solution because it ruined 2 other 14k rose gold rings. I appreciate the information on prasiolite. It's a much prettier stone. For those of us who really really dislike purple, it's a welcome misnomer. If I had any say, I would have had my parents wait 3 months so an emerald would be my birthstone. 😁

hkleina @drcarebug I'm with you on preferring emerald for a birthstone. mine is green but I despise it (I'll let you guess) if I may suggest having the metal tested professionally, together with any other rings that have been damaged. A jeweler can easily restore them if they are 14k. if this ring is 14k you are waaay undervaluing it 😸

drcarebug @hkleina I will take your advice and have it appraised. As for the other 2 rose gold ones, I know where and what I paid for them and they are very real. But this solution had a bad reaction with the gold. It even chewd it some and then there was wierd crystallized substance that appeared. I've always used a multipurpose cleaner but for some reason had a silver specific one this time. I still have the two and would love to get them restored as they are sentimental.
