Amita Japan Shakudo Pillbox Gold & Sterling Silver Rhodium Plated Pill Box

VINTAGE JAPANESE AMITA GOLD & STERLING SILVER RHODIUM PLATED DAMASCENE SHAKUDO PILLBOX Vintage pill box by AMITA of Japan made between the 1940s and 1960s. Amita is the world's leader in Shakudo, a Japanese metal technique similar to damascene. It was founded in 1932. The pill box is rhodium plate over sterling silver, with silver and 24k gold inlay of a traditional Japanese landscape on the pill box lid. This small hinged round box measures 1 3/16 inch in diameter by 1/2 an inch deep. The closure works well, it pops up at the press of the button and stays closed. This pill box is vintage but shows very little wear. There is a small scratch inside and one the base from careless testing by the prior owner.
