Please see pictures Published in 1926, Marjorie Hardy's "The Child's Own Way Series" was written to help elementary level students learn to read. Hardy's revolutionary methods defied the long assumed concept that the learning process is uniform in character, "that a child learns to read by a process as uniform as that by which the body moves." Instead, she posited that this assumption is absurd and states in the book's introduction, "We all know not only that the greatest possible difference exists among individual children, but also that each individual child is profoundly influenced and changed by each day's new experience. The child who comes to school on opening day is a very different child two months later."
