This remarkable desk clock, dating back to 1931, is a piece of history just shy of earning its official "antique" status at 100 years old. A true collector's gem, only 10,000 of these clocks were produced and originally sold for $11.00—a significant investment during the Great Depression. Today, clocks of this design are rare and highly sought after.
Features and Details:
Material: Crafted from solid mahogany, the case boasts both durability and elegance. The front showcases a beautiful four-tone inlay border, and the mahogany exhibits a unique optical reflectance—sometimes called a "cat's-eye" effect—seen in fine woods like Honduran Mahogany and figured Maple.
Dial and Hands: The gold-toned clock face features black hands and a brass second hand. The bezel is made of copper, offering a distinctive look compared to the usual polished brass.
Condition: The clock face was gently cleaned with soap and water to preserve its nearly century-old paint, while the original wood stain was polished but not stained to enhance its natural beauty. The glass is in excellent shape.
Functionality: Equipped with a 'new' vintage cord and plug, this clock has been tested and works great. While the internal mechanics have not been adjusted, it operates reliably.
