Two hand painted bisque porcelain figurines depicting chimpanzee monkeys in formal Japanese wedding attire circa 1920-1930. Both bride and groom show significant wear due to age, but their whimsical character still shines through. Approx 4.5” tall, both pieces show chipped feet, occasional smaller chips, cracks, and some paint loss. However, this damage appears to have happened quite some time ago, and they both appear to have become accustomed to their frailties without concern for future debility, as long as they are handled with care. Groom is unmarked; bride is marked with a pictogram. Truly unique pieces for the shabby chic, whimsical, and anthropomorphic antiquity decor collector!
