Mustache Mugs were invented in 1870 and have a half-moon shaped opening near the lip of the cup to allow the passage of liquids while serving as a guard to keep mustaches dry. This unique style of cup stopped production between the 1920s and 1930s , as mustaches progressively faded out of fashion. Now, these antique cups are a coveted collector's item!
This beautiful mustache mug is hand painted in a floral toile design and has Ribbed texture throughout the porcelain. Although the cup is not stamped, it is believed to have been made in England during the late 1800s/early 1900s.
This mug is in excellent vintage condition and may show minor signs of wear, as is expected with age and use. Please review all photos for details. Sold "as-is".
