Here is an antique from the 1800’s brass Victorian purple glass sash pin for the collector. The c-clasp dates it as early 1900’s or late 1800’s, about 1850 to 1910. It has a very thick pin which’s has been repaired (see pic). The way it was repaired does not hold the pin tight so it doesn’t stay closed. So it is for the collector unless you have it repaired for wearing.
A sash pin is a type of pin used to secure a sash at a lady's hip during the late 1800s when the fad of wearing a sash over the shoulder and across bosom (imitating Queen Victoria) became popular. Most pins have very thick pin stems to allow for penetrating several layers of fabric. Many, but not all sash pins, resemble buckles from the front. Most are usually made of brass, base metal or silver-plated base metal and range from simple to very ornate in design.
It is 2 ¾” by 1 ¾”.
It is unsigned.
