Antique Carbide Miners Lamp. Frederick Baldwin obtained the original patent in 1900 for the invention of a carbide lamp. This example measures about 4" tall x 2.25" D. The top cap opens (where the water was placed), and the bottom chamber unscrews (where the carbide was placed). The cap hangers are firmly soldered in place. Nice old patina. Small dent on the top crown. A nice piece for your collection. A wonderfully antique and a great conversational piece.
We have been told this is a Guy's Dropper Carbide Lamp with patent dates listed on the crown.
