Antique Chikaramachi Child's Bowl Hand Painted/Transfer Girl Gardening Scene 6-5/8" Japan -The backstamp indicates that it is hand painted, but looking at the image under magnification shows a visible dot pattern. -The following is an interesting backstory to the Chikaramachi line -Chikaramachi was a separate Noritake manufacturing line, and it is believed that it was considered an apprenticeship program. Both porcelain and painting quality are coarser than the standard Noritake china of the era; and it appears as though many designs were produced, on a trial basis, under this label. -The Chikaramachi backstamp was registered in 1912, and both production and exports ceased in 1942. -Very nice condition for this antique piece, some wear to image as shown in photograph.
