Antique DuPont Amber Pyralin La Belle Dresser Vanity Set Hair Receiver Brushes

These art deco pieces are from a 1920s dresser set, made by DuPont for their Amber Pyralin La Belle line. Pyralin is similar to celluloid and was a precursor to plastic. From the National Museum of American History: “After World War I, hoping to use its nitrocellulose facilities for domestic and industrial (rather than military) production, Du Pont promoted pyralin, a nitrocellulose plastic akin to celluloid.” Included is a hair receiver box with lid, a hair brush, and nail buffer brush with tray. CONDITION Major cracks in the hair receiver pieces. Crack on the tortoiseshell portion of the buffing brush. Scratches on all pieces.
