Antique Embroidered Hankies

Three lovely old handkerchiefs, all beautifully embroidered and finished with rolled hems that are scalloped at the corners. They are all made of a sheer linen (pretty sure) and quite delicate. These are from Button Bettye's lace collection and she could tell us the exact details - I'm sharing what I remember and could figure out from online resources. #1 has embroidery in each corner - a spray of floral buds tied with a bow. The thread is darker than the fabric, almost a golden sheen to it. This one might be a generic hankie and is approximately 11" square. #2 has an actual "made in Portugal" label attached - which tells us a couple of things: It is new enough to have been created for retail sales, and since the label is in English, it was exported. The design is of a larger bell-shaped flower in a spray of buds - very much bring to mind a wedding. The thread (especially on the scallops) looks to be lightly colored goldish. There is some discoloration (be they wine spills or just age spots). This one is approximately 10" square. #3 is similar to #2 in that they both use a technique of puckering the fabric to add to the design (again bell-shaped flowers) called, I believe, "Mountmellick" in late 19th century. This piece has pure white embroidery on pure white fabric that again feels rather wedding-like. This one looks to be a near-perfect condition, about 10.5" square. These could make a lovely gift for a traditional wedding bride, or addition to a collection.
