Antique Handmade Large Tall Woven Storage Basket

Antique (1800s/early 1900s), handmade, large tall, woven reeds, storage basket, made similarly to a barrel, based on its construction using wood stints, & "no hole" wood bottom. Because it is not perfect, indicative of "Free Form" & not made on a basket mold (bases with center holes ), it is said to be more desirable. The nails are also indicative of being very old (possibly rose heads) because they are black with irregular heads (no orange iron rust, black rust instead). Meas: 14"H x 12" wide at top. This basket is reminiscent of ones found in the Nantucket Massachusetts area because of its barrel like construction which was popular with seamen. It would be right at home in a museum or in your own personal art collection.
