Antique Hans Jensen Pocket Handheld Vanity Mirror Silver Denmark Scandinavian
A beautiful Hans Jensen silver plated pocket mirror with an incredibly detailed repousse village scene on the reverse. Stamped on the rim near the handle, “DENMARK”, with Han Jensen whale hallmark which indicates silver plate, I believe. Probably dates to sometime in the early 20th century, between 1900 and 1920.
This gorgeous antique silver pocket mirror is quite small, intended to fit in a pocket or small purse. Designed by Hans Jensen and marked Denmark with a fish symbol on the side. Measures 2.5" wide by 4.5" long. Overall it is in very good condition considering its age. The mirror does have a few small scratches. See photos for condition.
Chiselled and hammered silver plated mirror and comb with a village scene showing a group of villagers playing instruments after a hard day's work. There is a fiddle player, a drummer, and perhaps a pipe player or singer. The implements of their work are laying off to the side, including a scythe, an overturned bench and a bucket. A little dog is lying in front listening to the music.
Displays the Whale shaped mark for HANS JENSEN. Denmark. Hans Jensen was a Danish silversmith and part of a family that produced silver works in Copenhagen and subsequently in Aarhus from 1899 to 1970. Hallmark looks like a fish or whale.
