This is an antique Ruby and Pearl ring in a Gold setting. The ring size is 6.75 and the jeweler said that it would be very easy to resize if needed. This Ring is close to 100 years old. It belonged to my Great Grandmother. Hate to let it go but times are really tough right now.

@leeyhamarie how long are we talking about?

markremling
@leeyhamarie okay I don’t see that to be a problem as long as nobody offers full price.

markremling
@leeyhamarie Yes, my Great Grandfather bought it for her. Basically anything that she said she liked he would get it for her and then surprise her with it.

markremling
@leeyhamarie Yes he was.

@leeyhamarie I’m sorry it doesn’t, it’s almost one hundred years old and the jeweler that I took it to only worked with diamonds but had a special tool that tested the density. Apparently Ruby’s are very hard and this machine said it was a Ruby. It is also stamped 14k on the inside and you can see the back of the stone and pearls from the back.

Hi, what a nice ring! Could you post a photo of the ring in natural light. The light looks a bit too warm in the photos so I’m not sure if I’m seeing the true color of the ruby. Any nicks, chips, scratches on the ruby and the pearls? Is the ring 14K gold or 18K gold? Thanks!

markremling
@breadmilk thank you, the last 3 pictures were taken outside. The ring is 14K, and it is in perfect condition as you should be able to see in the pictures. There are no chips or scratches anywhere on the ring. It probably could use a professional cleaning if anything.

@markremling great, thanks! Would you mind wear it, I want to see how big it is. Thanks!

breadmilk
@markremling And can you share more photos wearing it and have it out of the box, I want to see how big it is and the color of the ruby when it’s not on a dark color box. Thanks a lot!

@breadmilk I just posted two new pictures of it on my finger. Unfortunately, my fingers are too big to wear it properly. That’s the best that I could do. From what I researched this ring was made before World War II. You’ll never find a ruby this big. Since they used Rubys as bearings in vehicles during World War II.

@breadmilk sorry, there is no way I can go that low. With gold prices the way they are there is at least $800 in gold alone on this ring. Plus I loose 20% right off the bat with greedy Poshmark.

breadmilk
@markremling what is the weight of the ring? Thanks!
Aug 03Reply

markremling
@breadmilk 5 grams
Aug 03Reply

breadmilk
@markremling Thanks! I can make the offer a bit higher but not too much based on the weight of the ring and the sold prices of similar ruby rings on posh. I’m a serious buyer. Hope we can make a deal. Thanks!

breadmilk
@markremling by the way, is this genuine natural ruby, and is it treated or heated? Thanks!
Aug 03Reply

markremling
@breadmilk I took it to a jewler and he put some special machine on it. He told me that it was a Ruby. Your other question I have no idea. I inherited this. It was my Great, Great Grandmother’s.

breadmilk
@markremling Thanks!
Aug 03Reply

markremling
@breadmilk The lowest I could go would be $1875
Aug 03Reply

breadmilk
@markremling it’s way above my budget and I'm a bit concerned without knowing if it’s a natural ruby, so I canceled the order. Thank you anyway!
Aug 03Reply

markremling
@breadmilk if you’re willing to go a little bit higher, I’ll let you have it. I’m getting old and I have really no one to leave it to or give it to so I would like to know at least somebody has it and will be wearing it.

@markremling hi, I made a final offer, hope it works for you this time. Thanks!
Aug 04Reply

breadmilk
@markremling thank you for accepting my offer, hope it will pass the posh authentication!
Aug 04Reply

markremling
@breadmilk I’m new to Posh, what exactly is that?
Aug 04Reply

breadmilk
@markremling posh provides free authentication for items sold over $500
Aug 04Reply

markremling
@breadmilk I know I just received an email from them explaining it all. It just takes longer for you to receive it.
Aug 04Reply

breadmilk
@markremling no problem. I can wait as long as it passes the authentication.
