Snow White Parian Ware Vase with Berries and Leaves / Circa 1800's / Victorian Era.
Parian ware is a type of biscuit porcelain imitating marble. It was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons, and named after Paros, the Greek island renowned for its fine-textured, white Parian marble, used since antiquity for sculpture.
This beautiful vase has high relief design, of grape clusters, acanthus leaves & vines on two sides. Beautiful design in the neck of the vase. Original handwritten note from previous owner of Bennington design plate # from Book by Barret. Original receipt of purchase from previous owner.
Approximate Measurements:
8 1/2” tall x 11 1/2” Diameter in the middle with a 2” wide opening
Considering age and composition overall in good condition. There are a couple of minor issues to note with some loss to one of the grapes, tendrils and hairline crack on a leaf.
