Sometsuke/ Blue & White, Japanese teapot of the Meiji period w/ typical Meiji design motifs & Sometsuke blue brush strokes,. Antique/ vtg. Japanese made porcelain teapot, Arita Ware/ Imari Ware style crafted in the Japanese Sometsuke Seto underglaze pattern of the original cobalt blue on the contrasting white.
The teapot has a very lovely feel, the finish on the Sometsuke teapot is fine, making the look and feel ultra smooth w/ a beautiful clear glaze all over the outside of the teapot, except for the bottom of the pot. There is a nice feel of glaze on the inside of the teapot too, except for the removable ceramic strainer.
The hand painted designs of Meiji /Sometsuke are crisp & create a botanical garden like setting. The vessel is quite Lightweight which also matches feel of the Sometsuke design & experience!
Teapot is in MINT vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Fine glaze covering!
