Excellent antique condition. Unusual locket features an upside-down cemetery scene. In Victorian symbolism, inverted objects were often used to represent death. Dates to around 1860. Constructed of hammered sheets of tested and filed solid 14kt gold. Bail is not original and is only plated in gold. Contains a well-preserved Daguerreotype black and white photograph of a man probably in his 30s. Locket clasp functions perfectly. Total weight is 6.52 grams. Please see photos for measurements.

I wonder why this hangs upside down? So it’s right side up to the wearer? 🤔

@amandahumm Yes, that's a great thought and it makes sense! Also upside-down imagery represented death to the Victorians. Super cool!
