Antique Victorian 1860s 10kt gold filled carved shell cameo Rebecca brooch pin

Excellent antique condition, shows minor rubbing to gold fill. Very large genuine carved carnelian shell cameo is beautifully detailed with an unusually high relief, specifically the house and is incredible when viewed from the side. Even more interesting is the purposely misshapen frame, made so to conform to the dimensions of the shell. Outer twisted ribbon frame brings balance. The scene of Rebecca at the well was a popular choice for cameos during the Civil War era/mid Victorian period. Frame includes original massive tube hinge and C Catch. Clasp functions perfectly.
