This small antique Victorian oil lamp is an original, one-of-a-kind piece that adds a touch of history to any room. This petite uranium lamp has a beautiful, brilliant blue color which floresces bright yellow-green under a black light, especially where the glass is darker at the base. The tiny embossed dots display a floral pattern in two rows around the bulbous middle section. You can also see traces of a gold moriage, most of which has worn off on this very early piece. There are some irregularities, waviness and a couple of tiny dimples around the top of the glass, which is to be expected as well. The burner, wick raiser knob and burner collar are all made of brass which has darkened, consistent with age and use. The old fiber wick is still intact and moves easily up and down when turning the knob.
This lamp is in very nice condition with no breakage or cracks. I don’t know if the chimney is original to the lamp, but it does fit securely on the burner. There is a small flea bite chip at the chimney edge (see last pic). Also on the top of the chimney is a longer bubble or irregularly in the glass, but it is not a scratch. Please review all photos as they are part of the description. The lamp measures 12”H including chimney x 3.5” diameter around the center x 3” diameter base.
This mini lamp, original piece from the mid to late 1800s and would be a stunning addition to any collection. This unique and stunning oil lamp is an impressive piece of Victorian decor.
