Antique Victorian silver handmade repousse belcher links shield cameo chain belt

Excellent antique condition! Such a unique piece, dates to around the early Victorian Romantic period of 1840. Possibly a mourning guard chain or chatelaine belt as the cameo is carved from what is either jet, onyx, or a combination of both. Each end ornament has a set of two hook teeth to be affixed to the wearer's shoulders or waist. Unsure of full metal content, piece is non-magnetic except for two small components used in the swivel function of the hooks. Based on the time period, it is likely a silver alloy. Features hammered repousse charms including the black cameo, coat of arms, and a round seal of some sort.
