Antique Vintage 1940’s Navy Blue Polka Dot Day Dress

This little lady is 80 years young! And like any lady of that age, she has a few signs of a life well lived. But overall, she is in wonderful condition. The fabric is a shiny taffeta like material, with an applied pattern of dots. Her collar, cuff trim and underskirt are made of cotton gauze. She has a front zipper which is still intact and fully functional. She has belt loops, but the original belt is missing. (The one in these photos is for display purposes only and not part of this listing.) Her full skirt and tailored bodice are perfect for emphasizing a trim waistline. Issues to note: some of the dots show signs of wear. But considering her age, it’s amazing how many are still fully intact. There is a small pinhole on the shoulder near the collar, and one at the front hem. The stitching beneath one arm has come loose, but the fabric is still intact with no fraying or tearing so it could be restitched quite easily. You could wear this dress, but she is a bit fragile. I would recommend this as a display or collector’s piece only. It’s a wonderful piece of fashion history, and deserves to be handled with love and care.
