11” in diameter, red felt on underside, and a ring to hang the item centered at the too. This amazing piece was carved from casting stone and meant to withstand time. Some consider this Mayan, I’m not sure I wasn’t there, but it seems the more general consensus is this was from the Aztec culture - Piedra Del Sol Calendario Azteca (one of its names in Spanish). There a bit of dirt accumulation in the crevices of this piece but, that’s kind of expected with something like this and also makes it that much more antique-esque, in my opinion. It’s not ‘dirty’, it’s just old carved stone with narrow spaces for accumulation. Saw the exact same one twice on different markets going for $500-$800.
