This recipe scrapbook is so cool!! It’s like going back in time.
A lot of recipes from “A Firemans Wife” were collected in this scrapbook . “A fireman wife” was practically a local celebrity for wives who loved to cooked. she was a housewife who shared her recipes to Globe for 36 yrs. It is definitely a very interesting recipe scrapbook full of history.
Very old. MUSTY smell. Full of pages that are yellowed & stained from age.
Most if not ALL of the recipes that were once taped to the pages of the book ARE COMING OFF the pages so they would have to be taped again. (That’s a project you’d have to do if interested)
In the pictures, I tried to put them back where they were once but the tape is so old that none are sticking to the pages anymore. You’d have to tape with new tape and restore.
The recipes seem to be old!!!
There is one paper that says that the recipe dates back to 1862
From the papers found in there, I saw dates from 40’s-60’s but I have not looked through all. There’s just too many.
Lots of other little surprises you’ll find here like old birthday cards, catalogs, magazines, There’s a 1967 Herbs & Spices chart, A receipt written on old stationary, Notes on stationary from The knickerbocker the laboratories for research quality 300 w. 3rd st. times square New York (opened in 1906), PLUS MORE
There are so many interesting, old pieces in there but like I mentioned, you’d have to re-tape most or maybe all the recipes back because they’ve come off.
