This beautiful blue transferware collectors plate features an historical scene with Mayflower colonists Priscilla and John Alden. Made in the early 1900's by Wedgwood in Etruria England for A. S. Burbank, of Plymouth, Massachusetts. The quote on the back of the plate is from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem: "Archly the maiden smiled, and, with eyes overrunning with laughter, said, in a tremulous voice, "Why don't you speak for yourself, John?" The courtship of Myles Standish - Longfellow." Excellent Antique Condition.
