Antique Wooden Coffee Grinder French RARE

Antique - Circa 1910 Peugeot & Cie Pont-de-Roide (doubs) Made in France 1894 - 1938 Manual Coffee Grinder Square wooden coffee grinder with wooden drawer inside. Double scalloped edge. Black iron top with hinged opening, iron crank handle with wooden finial. On the front an oval brass medallion with: Peugeot & Cie. Standing elephant and Pont – De – Roide (doubs) dates this piece to Circa 1910 The prices of “elephant” mills were the same as those “with the lion” in the catalogues, however, the elephant mills benefit from a more advanced finish: well-worked support for cast-iron models, double molding on the top of wood mills, s-crank, gland-shaped hat, etc. A shorter production time, a less extensive range, give the mills of Pont-de-Roide a greater rarity than the Peugeot Frères mills. Measurements: Wooden box 5" tall x 6.25" wide x 6.25" deep. Height to the top of the metal grind case is 8". Weighs 2 lb. 7 oz. Fabulous antique condition. Still working after 100 years! There is natural patina to the wood and metal as would be expected. There is a chip off the bottom left corner that seems to have healed quite well (lol). This came from a friend of mine from New Orleans and it has been in her family for over three generations.
