Antique beaded, embroidered purse, French This is a beautiful beaded purse. It is an evening "clutch". It is made of cloth with delicate flowers embroidered on it, in the Point de Beauvais style of Tambour embroidery. The flowers are surrounded by tiny white beads. The beads are about 1/32" diameter. Both the embroidery and beading is in what seems to be perfect condition. There are no visible breaks in the thread, or missing beads (that I can see). The colors are subtle tones of peach, green, grey, gold, brick, blue and lavendar. The back of the clutch seems very slightly brighter in color, so maybe it was affected by light. The back has a strap, which you can put your fingers thru to hold it, or it could be placed on a belt or sash. It has a sturdy snap closure. Inside looks like silk in an ecru color and it is very clean. It has the original mirror in a pocket. The sides are gusseted. Other similar purses are from France. Circa 1920s. About 7.5" long x 4 x 1.5 thick.
