c 1890 ceramic stoneware humidor tobacciana Still smells like its original tobacco! 5.5" tall x 4.5" wide Created for Cheltenham Training College (1847-1852), now known as University of Gloucestershire. Made by W & R Stoke-on-Kent Carlton Ware. Ceramic lid, brown glaze, textured ceramic exterior, ceramic and metal lid Porcelain shield says in Latin: Disce Ut Doceas / Cheltenham Training College ("Learn in order to Teach," so perhaps it was a college for future teachers.) Fabulous airtight lid!
