Signed Antonio Pineda Large Polished Belt Buckle. Antonio Pineda was one of the greatest and most innovative of the modernist silver designers of Taxco, Mexico in the mid-20th century. He made elegant, finely crafted jewelry, drawing on a deep visual and cultural background and bringing his pieces gloriously into the modernist aesthetic. This magnificent, large silver shadowbox belt buckle is from a series of pieces said to have been inspired by the cave paintings of Lascaux in France. This is a fabulous piece for any collector of modernist jewelry, or anyone who admires modernist design. The body of the buckle curves in a gentle arc to follow the curve of the body. Fully signed and marked: Antonio Taxco Crown, Eagle Mark 17, PZ163, Hecho En Mexico Silver 970 . This fabulous statement piece is in excellent condition, with some minor scratches (see photos, condition commensurate with its age). Dimensions: 5 13/8" long x 2 5/8" wide. 146g (5 OZ)
Please read sellers instructions and check out my ebay store. Most Jewelry, and other items, are vintage and will have some light wear from use, I describe all of my quality items to the best of my ability. I am not a jeweler or a gemologist, and I do the best I can on my descriptions and any flaws will be noted. I lightly clean/buff the vintage jewelry so the patina is preserved.
